Words of WineThis policy explains what information Words of Wine ("the app") collects, how it is used and the choices you have. We keep data collection to what the game needs.
1. Who we are
Words of Wine is operated by Cansin Varol, who is the data controller. Contact: support@wordsofwineapp.com.
2. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up or sign in we receive your email address, display name and a sign-in identifier from the method you choose (Sign in with Apple, Google Sign-In, or email and password). Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never stored by us in readable form.
- Game data. Your level progress, found words, hints, points, settings and daily reward activity, so your progress is saved and restored.
- Age check. The app asks for your date of birth to confirm you are of legal drinking age in your region. Your date of birth is checked and kept on your device only. We store only whether you passed the check and the region used.
- Usage and device data. Basic analytics (such as which screens and levels are used), crash reports, and technical details like device model and operating system version, used to find and fix problems.
- Advertising data. The app shows rewarded video ads through Google AdMob. We request non-personalized ads only (see "Advertising" below).
- Purchases. Payments are processed by Apple. We receive confirmation of what was purchased, not your payment details.
3. How we use information
- To provide the game, save your progress and let you sign in.
- To understand how levels are played so we can improve and add content.
- To keep the app stable and secure, including crash diagnosis and abuse prevention.
- To show rewarded ads and grant hints for watching them.
- To comply with age restrictions and legal obligations, and to respond to your requests.
4. Legal bases (EEA, UK and similar regions)
We process data to perform our service to you (account and progress), for our legitimate interests (analytics, security, improving the game), to comply with legal obligations (age restrictions) and, where required, with your consent (for example, advertising choices).
5. Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal information. We use service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Google (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, Google Sign-In and AdMob) for sign-in, cloud storage of your progress, analytics, crash reporting and ads.
- Apple (Sign in with Apple and the App Store) for sign-in and purchases.
These providers have their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
6. Advertising
We request non-personalized ads only. The app does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA) to track you across other companies' apps and websites, and does not show the App Tracking Transparency prompt. Ad providers may still process limited technical data (such as your IP address and device information) to deliver and measure ads.
7. How long we keep data
We keep your account and progress while your account is active. If you delete your account we delete your personal data, except where we must keep limited information to meet legal obligations.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your data, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. You can:
- Delete your account and data from inside the app, or by emailing support@wordsofwineapp.com.
- Ask us for a copy of your data or to correct it by emailing us.
- Complain to your local data protection authority if you believe your rights are not respected.
9. Age and children
Words of Wine is about wine and is intended only for adults of legal drinking age in their region (rated 17+ on the App Store). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone below the minimum age. If you believe a minor has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical measures, including encrypted connections and access controls on stored data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
11. International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where required, they rely on recognized safeguards for international transfers.
12. Changes
We may update this policy. The "last updated" date above shows the current version, and we will make significant changes visible in the app or on this page.
